Current and previous projects

We are responsible for bringing together the largest and most complex Queensland coal mine SIS gas field. Working through third party and environmental restrictions, we led and managed our partners on behalf of our client to drill and complete the complex (40+ vertical, 30+ lateral) drilling program across a 2.5-year period. This included well installation and successful delivery of a multi-stage sub-seam hydraulic stimulation well for gas drainage — the first of its kind in Australian mining.

Drilling

  • Large diameter coordination (Goaf and service hole)

Hydraulic Stimulation Project Management

  • Turnkey management including planning, drilling, installation of packer systems, and execution of on-site stimulation activities
  • 3x Vertical hydraulic stimulation trials in active mining areas: LW605 and East Mains mining areas
  • 2x Lateral trial hydraulic stimulation wells: LW607 & LW608 mining area for improved gas drainage
  • 2x Lateral hydraulic stimulation wells in future gateroads for improved gas drainage: MG609 and MG610
  • Stimulated to improve coal seam roof geotechnical properties
 

Exploration

  • Geological, supervisor and coordinator support for drilling rigs across four exploration regions
  • Planning and delivery of activities for Surface to In-Seam (SIS) drilling for exploration purposes: Moranbah North Mine and Moranbah South Exploration area
  • Bed Mapping and smart tool management to aid improved geological data capture
  • Project delivery and management of ground stimulation processes and work groups for 15+ vertical exploration holes for coal seam roof interburden hydraulic fracturing
 

Surface Gas Drainage Infrastructure and Projects

  • Development of gas field from concept to drilling through to first gas
  • Operation and management of 50-well SIS gas field
  • Planning and installation of surface well equipment
  • Planning and installation of surface pipelines
  • Planning and execution of well intervention and well workover programs
  • Design and installation of gas skid and associated infrastructure

Fitzroy Resources Carborough Downs & Ironbark No.1 Mine site

Surface Gas Drainage Project Management

  • Completion of new SIS gas field on Ironbark No.1 Mine
    • From planning to first gas including all earthworks, drilling, infrastructure installation and dewatering
  • SIS feasibility – Determining feasibility of different well designs
  • Multiple project budgets of $15-20 million
  • Management of surface gas drainage activities for Ironbark No.1 Mine
  • Installation of new gas drainage infrastructure
    • Blower project
    • Water and gas reticulation systems

Surface Gas Drainage Project Management

  • Project technical advisors and consult of choice for all drilling, workover and well infrastructure projects
    • Desktop planning – commercial and design for new campaign
    • Tender management, contracts and workorders
    • Preparation of budgets, cost tracking and auditing, dispute resolution
    • Regulatory compliance
    • Well engineering
    • Equipment review and procurement
    • Onsite management of all site activities regarding well completion earthworks, drilling and infrastructure installation
  • Led the “Accelerated Wells Program”
    • Review poor and non-performing wells
    • Plan and procure equipment across a complex array of historical wells
    • Management of multiple contractors and rapid turnaround works to bring poor and non-performing wells back to production
  • Fairhills Project Management – Desktop planning, budgeting and site delivery of trial drilling campaign which aims to capture gas released from non-mining seams situated above U/G coal mine

Surface Gas Drainage Project Management for Pilot 3-well project

  • Turnkey project management and site coordination of three-well SIS pilot program for new underground mine
  • Drilling, pipeline, well installation and commissioning project management
  • Mechanical and electrical installation of surface infrastructure
  • Development of equipment compliance and maintenance workorder system and project procedural documents
  • Implementation of remote well operation software and dashboard to allow remote operation of SIS wells.
